André Marcel Harris brings professional expertise in social work and health policy together with lived experience of sickle cell disease. His work centers on the practical barriers that can shape life with sickle cell disease, including navigating disability benefits, accessing treatment, receiving appropriate care in emergency departments, and advocating for patients within health systems.
He serves as director of the National Sickle Cell Initiative at Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
André is pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Through his research, advocacy, and community work, he brings a patient-centered perspective to conversations about sickle cell care, policy, and access.
